American Walnut Kitchen Countertops
We were contacted by a local couple in Jupiter Fl looking for wood countertops for their kitchen in their newly built home. They inquired about a few species but were drawn to the rich chocolate hues Walnut hardwood has to offer.
They provided precise drawings and measurements of the kitchen countertops and island they wanted to cover in the material. We worked closely with them to design out the direction of planks for the countertops as well as the cutout for their sink.

We then went out to take final measurements prior to fabricating the material. Once final measurements were taken we then began milling the material. After milling the material we then selected each piece to check for knots, cracks or any imperfections. Each side was carefully selected and prepared for glue up.
Due to the size of the kitchen we had 3 sections to make to complete the full kitchen. Each section was glued up and left in clamps for 24-48 hours depending on dyability and outdoor elements. Due to the size of the kitchen island this piece was made into 2 pieces then glued together to make the one final piece. This process took about 5-7 days due to dry time. Once all was dried we began planning each panel and finish sanding smooth. As each panel was completed we then prepared for the sealing process.
We used an all natural Tung oil to seal the countertops. This process took about 5 days as time for oil to soak in and seal before reapplication. After the countertops were finished and delivered we allowed a few more days for the wood to acclimate to the interior environments and more time for the oil to harden.
