Project Details

At Carib Teak we pride ourselves on our Custom products and designs. This particular client was in need of a custom fence for their backyard. They wanted to incorporate the Horizontal design style to the fence in addition to ensuring a stable, sturdy and long lasting product. They wanted a material that could withstand the outdoor elements yet portray a desirable look to their outdoor space.

After suggesting many species they determined they would settle on Cumaru Hardwood for their fencing material. They loved the uniqueness of each boards grain pattern and rich red tones this would enhance their backyard space. They had a unique design to the area adding 6×6 fence posts and horizontal planks to the design.

After determining the species of hardwood and design we began to procure the material. They used 1×6 planks for the horizontal planks and 6×6 posts to flag each section for stability. Once the post were set into place, each horizontal board was put into place per section. This process took about 2 days to accomplish.

Care and Maintenance

After the fence was set into place each area/section was sanded smooth and prepped for application of oil. Ipe Oil was added to each section to ensure each board was sealed properly. Giving the lustrous rich color of the hardwood.

If treated and properly maintained, this fence can last up to 15-25 years. Proper maintenance is required in hardwood fences such as applying oil to the fence every 12-16 months to ensure its longevity. This can be done using a spray and coming back over it with a large sponge to ensure it has soaked into each board.
