Project Details

We worked with a client looking for a White Oak shower floor to compliment their primary bath and spare bathroom shower.

They provided us with their shower pan dimensions and we fabricated the floor within 1/4″-1/2″ smaller to allow them to drop it into place. This allows for enough wiggle room to lift up the floor when time to clean underneath.

After providing the dimensions we milled, cut and sorted through each batten to ensure quality of each board/batten. Ensuring there are no defects, open knots and splits in each batten. Then assembly begins by laying up each batten and taking a final measurement. We space each batten evenly with an 1/8″ spacing between each. Once we get our final measurement accounting the variance we then start assembling the floor.

Once the floor is assembled we then start the finishing process. Attaching rubber feet on the bottom side of the floor, routing the bottom and topside of the floor as well as completing a final sand to ensure the floor is smooth.

In most cases White Oak floors are suggested to apply a sealant to the floor as it is advised to do so based on the amount of water it will be receiving. This helps with longevity of the wood and eliminating any water spots over time.

We apply matte finish Polyurethane sealant to the White Oak on the bottom and topside of the floors. This process takes multiple coats while sanding in between. In the end, the floors are sealant and protected. If you are interested in one of our White Oak floors contact us at Caribteak.com or call 561-301-9364.
